ate is made by one person. There is no ticketing system and no bot. Email arrives in an actual inbox and gets an actual reply, usually within a couple of days.

Is ate free?
Yes. Everyone gets 10 dishes a day, which is more than most days need. Nothing interrupts you: there are no banners and no ads between screens. If you do run out before the day is up, you can watch a short video to earn one more dish — always your choice, never forced. Your collection, your memories and everything already in them stay yours and stay free.
What happens to my photo?
The photo is sent to Google's Gemini API so the dish can be identified, then stored privately for your own collection. Google's terms for the free tier allow submitted content to be used to improve their products and to be reviewed by humans, so please do not photograph anything you would not want a stranger to see. Your collection, notes, places and ratings stay private to your account.
Do I need an account?
Yes, sign in with Google. It is what keeps your collection attached to you and synced if you change phone. There is no other sign-up form.
Which phones does it run on?
Android 8.0 and newer. Most of the testing happens on Android 11 and up. If your phone is older, the app says so the first time you open it and names the parts that get less of it. There is no iOS version yet.
Can I delete everything?
Any time. Deleting your account removes your memories, photos and profile from our database and private storage. The steps are on the Delete your data page.
Does ate count calories?
Not yet. Optional calorie and nutrition estimates are planned for a post-launch update. They will be informational only, not medical advice.
Troubleshooting
Recognition keeps failing
Recognition needs a connection. If you are offline the dish is saved as a draft and retried automatically the next time you open the app with signal. Photographing the plate straight on, filling the frame, in decent light gives the best result.
My dish was identified as the wrong thing
Tap the name and correct it. Your correction wins, and it is fed back anonymously so the same mistake is less likely next time.
The map is empty
Only meals saved with coordinates appear on the map. Grant the location permission and attach a place when you save a dish, and the pin appears.
I changed phone and my collection is missing
Sign in with the same Google account you used before. Everything confirmed and synced comes back. Drafts that never finished uploading live only on the old device.
