A food journal with photos that organises itself

Your camera roll is already a food journal. It is just buried between screenshots. ate pulls the meals out, names each dish and turns them into a collection you will want to scroll.

From camera roll to food journal

Take a photo in ate, or let it find the food photos already in your gallery. Each one is recognised, cut out as a sticker and placed on a shelf of everything you have eaten.

The original photo is kept too, so the memory stays as you took it, with the sticker on top as its cover.

One card per dish

Most photo journals grow into an endless timeline. ate groups them by dish instead: three bowls of ramen are one ramen card with three memories under it.

That makes the journal fun to browse. You see at a glance how many dishes you have tried, which ones you keep coming back to, and which cuisines are still waiting.

A journal that rewards curiosity

Every new dish moves a cuisine forward toward its passport stamp. Themed sets like dumplings from around the world earn an enamel pin when you finish them.

Badges level up from bronze to holo as you try new dishes and countries. There are no streaks, so missing a day costs nothing.

How it works in ate

  1. 1The ate camera framing a freshly baked croissant on a cafe table

    Snap the plate

Point the camera at something worth remembering. The photo stays at the heart of the memory.

  2. 2The ate Dish Details page for a croissant with its French origin and a saved cafe memory

    It joins your collection

ate names the dish, makes its sticker and saves the story, place and rating on one page.

  3. 3The ate cuisines screen with French cuisine completed and several cuisines in progress

    Your diary fills up

Every dish moves a cuisine forward and drops a pin on your food map.

Questions

Which app can make a food journal from my photos?

ate does. It recognises the dish in each photo, names it and files it into a collection with the date and place, so the journal builds itself from pictures.

Are my food photos public?

No. Your collection is private to your account. There is no feed and no followers.

Does it work for home cooking?

Yes. Home cooking, takeaway and restaurant meals all count. If a dish is not recognised, you can pick from suggestions or search the catalogue.
